We had Jake One on the podcast recently and I was just reminded of how goddamn nice and down to earth he is. Not like he wouldn’t be, but there are people who do the tiniest things and get big headed– and Jake’s done HUGE things. I spoke with him years ago but about a month or so back, before appearing on the podcast, we got on the phone again and he shared how “Rock Co.” was made and how everything all coalesced. It was eye-opening to hear about his own process as well as the working dynamics within De La. Jake has blown up–many times–but he won’t go pop.
