AUDIO II: Just For The Sake of It

age

One of our all-time favorite mixes is Age’s Audio, a blend of old soul, breaks, and rare cuts which continue to (no pun intended) age quite well years later. After all, it kicks off with Quinn Harris’ “All In The Soul” which is hardly a bad way to start any sequence of music.

Peep Audio II: Just For The Sake of It, the followup to its classic predecessor now finally available via New Medina Music. Highly recommended.

Collector and pal Adrian “Age” Mendoza sent me a copy of his newest 45 some months back. A fan of his Soulstrut mixes (and THIS latin/funk/soul/garage mix) I was also stoked to find a burn CD with “Owl Sessions’ cryptically written on it. Turns out it’s a random hip-hop mix, a pleasant surprise of classic rap from all over the map– Charizma, D.I.T.C., The Nonce and other stuff that makes me feel old. The selections all really hold up and the recording itself just sounds great. And it’s a NERDTORIOUS exclusive to boot; mixed on 3 turntables, 1 Vestax 06 Pro, A Stanton SA-3 Mixer & a Delay Pedal. Tracklisting and link below.

AGE’D MIX: El Fantasmas Espejo

age El Fantasmas Espejo Part_ 1

El Fantasmas Espejo (Part 1 of 2) is: “A mix I just did that’s from a large collection I was given 2 to 3 months ago from a former local radio DJ. It ranges from psych, soul, chicano anthems, covers, rock, balada, etc. It’s all over the place. All Latin records, all OGs, none re-issued and some below radar..til now,” according to AGE, Bay Area record junkie and local DJ/producer.

AGE’s last mix was a longtime favorite of mine. Listen and download his new one, El Fantasmas Espejo (which translates to “The Haunted Mirror”). Thanks holmes!
