GREAT interview. Chuck’s comments about classic soul & funk, and Obama’s rapping are truly classic.

For my 2c, “It Takes A Nation Of Millions…” will not only stand up as the best hip hop LP of all time, but one of the best albums of ANY genre, ever.

One of my most intense concert memories was Public Enemy & Sonic Youth in early ‘91 in Chicago at the height of Desert Storm. Chuck’s between songs raps about how fucked up it was made me feel like my 15 year old self was witnessing some monumental history. Didn’t matter that he said the way to succeed was thru nonviolence; idiots started a violent riot outside the Aragon Ballroom that night that ended in tear gas and police cars being thrown over. BUt, that’s how powerful Chuck’s voice and message is. Too bad people don’t always LISTEN to the message behind the boom.
